I'm a landscape photographer based, after a lifetime in California, in Durham North Carolina. I bought my first Nikon SLR when I was a teenager, and I've had a camera in my hand ever since.
I spent my life photographing the Pacific Coast, Hawai'i, and Yosemite; truly amazing subjects for anyone whose passion is seeing the world through a lens.
Those wild and rugged western landscapes are woven into my DNA, but I've also come to love the quiet beauty of North Carolina.
My goal as a photographer is to capture the fleeting moments that tell a story — the play of light on a landscape; the delicacy of a cloud in motion or a bird at rest — and to convey the beauty and fragility of those scenes in a way that helps you to feel a little bit of what I felt when I made the photo.
"To consult the rules of composition before making a picture is a little like consulting the law of gravitation before going for a walk."
— Edward Weston
